When Sean Cassidy set his sights on his first Disney race, he didn't just dip his toes in the water; he dove straight into the Princess Weekend Fairytale Challenge. Sean shares his experience of his first Disney race weekend.

Princess weekend was not only my first RunDisney event it was my first races ever, I did all 3 races 5k,10k, half marathon, I started running 10 months ago.
The expo was well run but crowded; there was a lot going on. The bib pickup was easy, and once you know where everything is it's easy.
At the 5 K race, I met Christine before the race, and she was fantastic. Knowing it was my first race, she answered all my questions. The course was around EPCOT. Queen Elinor was out, and I stopped for a picture. There were a few characters out, but I only stopped for her. After the race, I met up with Christine, who got me my first after-race beer.

The 10k, by far my favorite course, started wet, but just a few raindrops while we waited to start. After sunrise, the humidity shot way up, and it was hot. A few characters out, but a lot of bands and music.
The Half Marathon, this would be the furthest I've ever run. I knew I could do the mileage b but still a little nervous, I really didn't like the course but you do get Magic Kingdom so it's worth it, there is nothing like running down Main Street with all the people cheering and seeing my wife it was emotional. Lots of characters out, and they do try to make the highway miles easy.

I did finish all 3 races, and it was amazing, but the best part of the entire weekend was the D3 monorail crawl Sunday night. Meeting people from this group and watching the fireworks from the Contemporary was the highlight of the weekend for me.

I'll be back for
Wine and Dine
and hope to see a lot
of you there.
